Welcome to an all new season of The Big Bang Theory. Amy and Bernadette go a neuroscience conference and get hit on by guys while Howard helps Raj get over his recent breakup. With Leonard gone, Penny and Sheldon comfort each other.
Amy and Bernadette
While staying at a hotel for a neuroscience conference, two men buy Bernadette and Amy drinks. Amy gets irritated when Bernadette suggests she could show interest in another guy. They discuss which man they were attracted to, only to discover Amy liked the man most like Howard and Bernadette liked the man most like Sheldon.
Sheldon and Penny
Sheldon is lonely. He misses his 3D-chess partner, struggles to undo the zipper on his jeans, and even has nightmares (about his DVD’s being out of order, of all things). Penny keeps him company and plays chess, but begins to get overwhelmed with Sheldon’s constant chatter on seemingly useless topics. Penny finally suggests they call Leonard, only to find out Leonard is partying and doing just fine without them. Sheldon tries to comfort Penny.
Raj
Raj may have broken the talking-to-girls barrier but he is struggling to get over his breakup. He sees signs of Lucy in everything, from oil stains to his chicken pot pie.
Howard takes Raj to a party for post-doctorate students. They see Ms. Davis from human resources and recall her husband left her for a younger woman. Raj tries to talk to her but insults her by explicitly referring to her failed marriage. Later Raj apologizes. He then shares his own heartbreak in an attempt to hit on her. He thinks they had a “moment”. Howard isn’t so sure.
