Last Man Standing, Season 3, Episode 7, Recap: Shoveling Snow

When Eve’s neighbor beats her to starting her annual snow shoveling business, she gives him some capitalist competition. Mandy discovers she can make more money without Kyle hanging around.

Eve

Eve runs a snow shoveling business every winter. This year, the morning after the first snow fall, Eve heads out to shovel and finds out that someone else has already shoveled all the driveways in the neighborhood. Someone has beaten Eve to it. The next day Eve gets up earlier and shovels the neighbors’ driveways. The Baxters’ neighbor Phil Munroe comes over and informs Eve that he has started his own snow shoveling business. He expects Eve to willingly give up her money source. Eve, however, is ready to compete in the free market to keep her business going. Phil and Eve lower their prices to compete for customers. Mike encourages Eve’s foray into capitalism. But Eve crosses a line when she distributes posters accusing her neighbor of murdering animals. Mike draws the line. “Capitalism works only ifEve and Phil Munroe there is a moral compass,” he says. Mike realizes that Phil is desperate for any job after losing his accounting position. Mike talks to Ed Alzate and they decide to offer Phil a position as an accountant at Outdoor Man.

Mandy and Kyle

At Mandy’s waitressing job, Kyle often comes in to spend time with her. A coworker tells Mandy that she would get more tips if the customers thought she was “available”. Mandy decides to try it. She tells Kyle not to come in anymore, and she begins flirting with the customers. Kyle is irritated that Mandy has cut him out of her work life. Mandy decides it was a mistake. “I made forty more bucks today,” she says, “and I was miserable.” Mandy realizes that Kyle’s company is worth more to her than a little more money.Mandy and Kyle
